Dayton runs away from North Florida 86-71

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) Charles Cooke scored 24 points, Steve McElvene added 14 points with 16 rebounds - both career highs - and Dayton used a big second half to run away from North Florida 86-71 on Saturday.

Scoochie Smith scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers amid a 23-7 second-half run, and the Flyers (6-1) led by 24 with 10:31 left.

North Florida, ranked third in the nation with 12.8 3s per game, gained ground on 3s by Aaron Bodager, Demarcus Daniels and Beau Beech, but couldn't catch up.

The Ospreys (6-4) shot 14 of 32 from long distance, but were outscored 46-18 in the paint and outrebounded 41-31. The Flyers shot 55 percent from the field and made 12 of 20 free throws.

Beech scored 18 points with six 3-pointers, including five in the first half. Dallas Moore added 15 points and Chris Davenport 12.
