Boise State pulls away in the 2nd half, beats Portland 81-71

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Anthony Drmic scored 24 points and James Webb III grabbed 14 rebounds as Boise State pulled away from Portland in the second half for an 81-71 victory Saturday night.

The game was the last road game of December for the Broncos (5-4), who open a five-game home stand Wednesday against Loyola-Marymount. Boise State's next road game is January 5 at Utah State.

Alec Wintering and Jarrel Marshall hit back-to-baskets to close the first half and cut the Boise State lead to three at halftime, 43-40. Bryce Pressley made back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second to give the Pilots a 46-43 lead.

Webb tipped in a missed shot and Mikey Thompson and Drmic made consecutive 3-pointers to start a 17-2 run to put the Broncos up 60-48.

Wintering scored 26 points to lead Portland (4-5).

Under coach Leon Rice Boise State is now 85-17 when scoring 70 or more points.
