Stephen F. Austin overtakes Texas Southern for 66-62 win

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) Jared Johnson sank six 3-pointers, including the go-ahead bucket with 24 seconds left, to lift Stephen F. Austin to a 66-62 win over Texas Southern on Saturday night.

Trailing by double digits midway through the second half, Stephen F. Austin (4-3) rallied with a 16-4 run that included 3-pointers from Johnson, Trey Pinkney and Clide Geffrard to edge into its first lead of the game 52-51 with 5:38 left. The lead traded back and forth until Johnson's final trey broke a tie to make it 64-61 and the Lumberjacks protected the advantage down the stretch.

Johnson finished with 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting, Thomas Walkup added 14 to go with 10 rebounds and T.J. Holyfield had 13 points.

Malcolm Riley paced Texas Southern (1-7) with 21 points, while Derrick Griffin had 17 points and 12 rebounds.
