Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez will stay with the Wildcats after turning down an offer from South Carolina, athletic director Greg Byrne said Saturday.

Rodriguez tweeted shortly after he was “happy and honored” to remain with the school.

The Gamecocks are looking for a new head coach after Steve Spurrier retired in October. Rodriguez has been linked to multiple jobs with several high-profile schools looking for new coaches.

Rodriguez has compiled a 32–20 record with the Wildcats, including a Fiesta Bowl berth in 2014. He was previously the head coach at West Virginia and Michigan.
