Daniel scores game-winner as Howard beats NC Central 71-69

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) James Daniel III scored 27 points, including the winner with one second left, as Howard clipped North Carolina Central 71-69 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Monday night.

The Bison (6-3, 1-1) made up a five-point deficit in the final 1:44. Damon Collins scored a layup that closed Howard to within 69-66, Tyler Stone hit a 3-pointer - his only basket of the game - that tied it at 69 with under a minute to go, and Daniel nailed a jump shot for the win after an N.C. Central turnover.

Collins scored 24 points for Howard.

Dajuan Graf scored 19 points with eight assists and Jeremiah Ingram scored 18 points with three steals for the Eagles (3-5, 1-1), who saw their 38-game home win streak, second-longest in the nation, end.

There were seven lead changes, but N.C. Central didn't score over the last 2:39.
