Stephen F. Austin sets 2016 schedule

(STATS) - Stephen F. Austin football will seek to turn around a losing record as part of an 11-game 2016 schedule announced Tuesday.

The Lumberjacks finished 4-7 under coach Clint Conque this year. They will kick off the 2016 campaign on Sept. 3 at Texas Tech, marking the fourth straight season they will face a Big 12 member.

SFA will return to Nacogdoches, Texas, on Sept. 10 for the first of five home games at Homer Bryce Stadium against Division II West Alabama. The Lumberjacks will then open their nine-game Southland Conference schedule on Sept. 17 against this year's champion McNeese State in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The annual "Battle of the Piney Woods" against Sam Houston State will be played Oct. 1 at NRG Stadium in Houston.
