TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie turned down an offer to become offensive coordinator at Texas, reportsJeremy Clark of HornedFrogBlitz.com.

Cumbie was offered the position by Charlie Strong after visiting with the Texas head coach on Sunday, but declined the position Tuesday after giving it serious consideration.

The Texas job would have been a move up in responsibility for Cumbie, as he currently runs the TCU offense alongside co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham.

Cumbie, who played quarterback at Texas Tech from 2000 to ’04 and coached with the Red Raiders from 2009 to ’13 before coming to TCU, is in his second season with the Horned Frogs.
