Ohio State DL Adolphus Washington cited for solicitation

Ohio State defensive lineman Adolphus Washington was cited on Wednesday night for a first-degree misdemeanor charge solicitation, university officials confirmed t​o Fox 28 Columbus.

Washington, a senior, recorded 49 total tackles this season, including 23 solo tackles and four sacks. The 6'4", 290-pound defensive lineman started in all 14 games for the Buckeyes last season and in the College Football Playoff national championship. On Tuesday, Washington accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl.

“Disciplinary action will be handled internally,” Jerry Emig, a spokesman for Ohio State, said.

Washington will make a court appearance on Dec. 17. The Buckeyes (11–1) will play Notre Dame (10–2) in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1, but Washington’s status is uncertain.

“Do not know at this point,” Ohio State athletics director Gene Smith told ElevenWarriors.com in regards to Washington’s eligibility. “Coach (Meyer) is on (the) road and will deal with when he gets home.”
