(STATS) - Coastal Carolina fans got the declaration they were hoping for from running back De'Angelo Henderson:

"Once a Chant, always a Chant, including 2016."

The Big South Conference's offensive player of the year announced on social media Monday that he will remain at Coastal Carolina for his senior season next year.

The likely 2015 FCS All-American made the decision to stay a Chanticleer after he was not given a first- or second-round grade by the NFL Draft Advisory Board and made inquiries at other schools about a graduate transfer.

He graduated with a degree in recreation and sports management last spring and began pursuing a second degree in communication during his junior season.

Henderson has rushed for 3,540 yards and 42 touchdowns and caught 77 passes for 731 yards and four touchdowns in his career. He has scored a touchdown in 26 straight games, an FCS record.

Next season, the Chanticleers will play as an FCS independent-reclassifying program as they head to the Sun Belt Conference on the FBS level in 2017.
