Kicker Eddy Pineiro has decommitted from Alabama, he announced on Twitter on Monday.

“After careful consideration and discussing it with my family, I’m currently decommitting from Alabama,” Pineiro wrote. “I will make my final decision about my college future in the next few days.”

Pineiro, who currently attends junior college at North Miami Beach (Fla.) ASA College, committed to Alabama in June.

He originally intended to play soccer at Florida Atlantic, but was not cleared academically by the NCAA. He played soccer last year at ASA College.

“This has been the most difficult decision of my life,” Pineiro continued. “I have not slept well in weeks. Coach [Nick] Saban, Coach [Mario] Cristobal, and the Alabama staff have been so good to me. But I feel like I rushed my decision instead of taking my time in the recruiting process. I want to be sure I am making the best decision for my future. Thank you for your understanding.”

Pineiro was visited at his home by Florida head coach Jim McElwain last week, followed by a visit by Alabama’s Nick Saban.
