UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone is in the ICU with blood clots in his lung, reports Bruin Report Online’s Tracy Pierson.

Mazzone, 58, was hospitalized Monday with the condition.

A UCLA spokesman told the Los Angeles Times, “Coach Mazzone is resting comfortably, in good spirits and looking forward to getting back with the team as soon as possible.”

Mazzone, a former quarterback at New Mexico, has been with UCLA since 2012. He previously held positions on the coaching staffs of Arizona State, Ole Miss, North Carolina State, Auburn, the New York Jets, as well as several others.

While Mazzone is recovering, running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu will serve as the team’s offensive coordinator.
