Four-star linebacker Michael Divinity has withdrawn his verbal commitment to LSU, he announced Wednesday on Twitter.

“I have decided to officially decommit from LSU,” Divinity wrote. “I want to thank the coaching staff and fans for the support. I want to take this time to make sure this is the right decision to me.”

Divinity committed to LSU in October, but says he will reopen his recruiting to explore the option of flipping his commitment to Texas A&M. He set a Jan. 5 deadline for himself to sign his binding letter of intent.

Divinity is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 1 outside linebacker from Louisiana and the No. 8 in the country at his position. Overall, the 6'2", 206-pound native of Marrero, Loiusiana is ranked No. 134.
