Watch: NC State’s Cat Barber sinks game-winning three at buzzer

NC State guard Cat Barber hit a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to beat High Point on Wednesday.

Big-time players make big-time plays.

With the clock ticking down and overtime looming against High Point, NC State junior guard Anthony “Cat” Barber sent Wolfpack fans home happy by hitting a game-winning three just before the buzzer on Wednesday.

Despite nearly colliding with teammate Caleb Martin, who was attempting to set a screen for his point guard, Barber calmly got himself the space needed to pull up and sink the buzzer beater. It was a much-needed win for NC State, which staved off what could have been its fourth loss of the season.

The game-winning three was the cherry on top of a big night for Barber, who poured in 26 points on 10-of-22 shooting to go along with six assists, five rebounds and no turnovers. Freshman guard Maverick Rowan added 19 points for the Wolfpack.

The loss was a heartbreaker for High Point (8–3), which was searching for its first top-100 win of the year. The Panthers have lost to Power 5 foes Texas Tech, Georgia and now NC State by only a combined 10 points.
