The Auburn Tigers (6–6) meet the Memphis Tigers (9–3) in the Birmingham Bowl on Wednesday.

Auburn had a lackluster season that included losses to Mississippi State, Arkansas and Georgia. The Birmingham Bowl will mark the third bowl game for head coach Gus Malzahn during his time at Auburn. He in 0–2 in his bowl game career with the Tigers.

For Memphis, the season has been a bit more fruitful. Quarterback Paxton Lynch has averaged over 300 yards per game, with 28 touchdowns and just three interceptions this season. The game will be the first for Memphis without coach Justin Fuente, who was recently hired to take over for Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech.
