UC Irvine uses size advantage in 65-51 win over Ndiaye

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) Mamadou Ndiaye scored 13 points, had seven rebounds and blocked four shots to lead UC Irvine past Division III Chapman 65-51 Friday night.

The Anteaters started what is believed to be the tallest lineup in college basketball history with the 7-foot-6 Ndiaye, 7-2 Ioannis Dimakopoulos, 6-10 Mike Best, 6-10 Jonathan Galloway and 6-8 Shawn Ray.

UC Irvine (8-4) blocked 13 shots.

Despite the fact UC Irvine never trailed, James Taylor's layup with 4:10 remaining before halftime cut the Anteaters' lead to 24-22. But UC Irvine put together a 10-4 run before the break and led 34-26 at intermission.

In the second half, a Dominique Dunning 3 and back-to-back layups from Wright made the score 44-33 with 16:35 to play. Wright's 3 with 3:55 left made the score 62-47.

Cam Haslam scored 21 points for Chapman (4-3) and James Taylor added 12.
