No. 24 Texas A&M knocked off No. 16 Baylor 80–61 as the former Big 12 opponents rekindled their rivalry Saturday night.

The spoils went to the home team, now a member of the SEC, after the Aggies got out to a 19–6 lead they would never relinquish, with the Bears turning the ball over 16 times and shooting just 35.6% from the floor. Baylor never found its shooting stroke and could never quite get back into the flow as Texas A&M leaned on balanced scoring to maintain its edge.

Senior guards Jalen Jones and Danuel House each scored 17 points for the Aggies. Freshman center Tyler Davis added 15 points on 6–6 shooting.

Senior Lester Medford led Baylor with 16 points, five assists and five steals. Junior Ishmail Wainright chipped in 12 points. The team’s two leading scorers, senior forwards Rico Gathers and Taurean Prince, both struggled offensively, adding eight points each while entering the night averaging more than 15 points apiece. Gathers grabbed 18 rebounds in the loss.

The Bears drop to 8–2, with the Aggies moving to 9–2.
