Miami safety Jamal Carter has been suspended by the team for the upcoming Sun Bowl game against Washington State for violating an undisclosed team rule, Miami announced Tuesday, according to NBC Sports.

The junior has been one of the Hurricanes top defensive players this season, making 48 tackles, good for fourth-best on the team, and an interception. Carter played in all 12 of Miami’s regular season games in 2015.

Carter saw a step up in playing time this season after filling a more limited role in 2014.
