Rutgers redshirt junior linebacker Steve Longa has elected to declare for the NFL draft, reports NJ Advance Media’s Dan Duggan.

Longa, who played middle and weak side linebacker at Rutgers, led his team in tackles in his three seasons with the program. His career mark of 342 tackles is eighth-best in Scarlet Knights history.

“I felt like I was ready to go,” said Longa, who recorded 117 tackles for Rutgers this season. “I had to answer one question: Am I ready to play with those guys at this moment? I was able to answer that question and never look back.”

While Longa is aware of his draft projection, he declined to disclose that information to reporters, calling it “personal.”
