TCU receiver Josh Doctson will not play in the Alamo Bowl against Oregon due to a wrist injury, head coach Gary Patterson confirmed Tuesday.

Doctson missed the final two games of the regular season with the injury but Patterson said last month that he could be available for the Horned Frogs’ bowl game.

Doctson, a senior, injured his wrist on Nov. 7 against Oklahoma State. A radio producer tweeted a few days after the game that Patterson said Doctson was done for the year, but later clarified that he misheard what the coach had said. Doctson did play in TCU’s close win over Kansas that week but managed just one catch for 12 yards.

Doctson was named First-Team All-America by SI.com, the Associated Press, USA Today and others. He caught 79 passes for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns in 10 games.

The Alamo Bowl will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio at 6:45 p.m. ET on Jan. 2.
