HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) Canyon Barry sank two free throws - his only points - after being fouled rebounding a potential game-tying free throw in the final seconds as College of Charleston held off James Madison 65-62 in a Colonial Athletic Association opener Thursday afternoon.

The Cougars (9-3, 1-0), a preseason pick for eighth in the CAA, were led by freshman Jarrell Brantley's 29 points on 13-of-14 shooting - his first game scoring more than 17 - and Cameron Johnson's 19.

Ron Curry was at the line with James Madison (10-4, 0-1) down by two and a chance to tie for the 10th time. He made the first, but Barry rebounded the miss and made both free throws, putting College of Charleston up 65-62 with four seconds left. After four timeouts in two seconds, Shakir Brown missed a 3-pointer for the Dukes and Nick Harris wrapped up the rebound and the win.

The lead changed hands 14 times.
