University of Houston wide receiver Demarcus Ayers will skip his senior season and declare for the NFL draft, reports the Houston Chronicle’s Joseph Duarte.

The junior had the best season of his collegiate career in 2015, recording 89 receptions for 1,140 yards and six touchdowns for the Cougars.

A starter in all 14 of Houston’s games this year, Ayers was a first team All-AAC selection as both a wide receiver and return specialist in 2015.

As a freshman in 2013, Ayers was named the conference’s Co-Special Team’s Player of the Year, as well as a first team All-AAC kick returner, after leading the league and ranking 12th nationally with an average of 27.6 yards per kick return.
