Wilson with 17 points, Coastal Carolina beats Winthrop 82-63

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) Elijah Wilson scored 17 points as Coastal Carolina beat Winthrop 82-63 on Saturday.

Wilson finished with 7-of-14 shooting from the field including three from distance for the Chanticleers (8-6, 2-2 Big South). Badou Diagne added 15 points with four rebounds and three steals, Jaylen Shaw had 10 points and three assists and Tristian Curtis chipped in nine points and led the team with nine rebounds. The Chanticleers averaged 51.6 percent shooting from the field, 73.3 percent from the line and had a 42-28 rebounding edge over Winthrop.

The Chanticleers took the lead early in the first half and never trailed from there, building a 41-27 advantage by halftime.

Wilson sank his third 3-pointer midway through the second half to extend Coastal Carolina's lead to 65-42 with 10:21 to play and the Chanticleers cruised to the win.

Jimmy Gavin led the Eagles (9-5, 2-2) with 19 points.
