Baylor cornerback Xavien Howard will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2016 NFL draft, he announced Monday on Twitter.

“After consulting with my family and praying about the situation I will declare for the 2016 NFL draft,” Howard said. “I also plan to graduate in May and obtain my degree with being only 8 credit hours away.”

In his tweet, Howard thanked the school “for providing a great experience in the classroom and on the field,” along with his professors, coaches, trainers and teammates.

In his junior season with the Bears, Howard defended 15 passes and recorded five interceptions.

The 6'2", 200-pound cornerback earned All-Big 12 honors in 2015 and was an honorable mention selection during his sophomore season in 2014.
