Oklahoma redshirt junior quarterback Trevor Knight will transfer to Texas A&M, he announced on Monday.

With the departure of quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray, the Aggies were in need of a quarterback in 2016. Knight, who will enter as a graduate transfer because of his redshirt, will be eligible to play next season.

“I have made the decision to play my senior season for the Texas A&M Aggies,” Knight said in a statement. “I am extremely excited for the opportunity that coach [Kevin] Sumlin and the staff have afforded me and look forward to making my last year of eligibility a memorable one.”

A starter for most of his first two seasons on campus, Knight lost his job to Texas Tech transfer Baker Mayfield at the beginning of the season and saw action in just six games in 2015. He completed 22 of 40 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions.

Knight also considered Kansas State, Auburn and LSU before choosing Texas A&M.
