The play of the night may have come in Tulsa’s 55–43 win over East Carolina.

Just over six minutes into the second half, Tulsa freshman Sterling Taplin took the ball to the bucket on a one-on-two breakaway. With teammate Rashad Smith trailing the play, Taplin spun 180 degrees and tossed the ball off the backboard without looking. Smith saw the ball go up, leapt into the air, and threw down the alley-oop.

Smith finished with a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds in 35 minutes while Taplin added six in 19 minutes off the bench.

Tulsa is now 9–6, while East Carolina falls to 8–7.
