Texas Tech defensive quality control assistant Matt Brock is Bowling Green's new special teams coordinator and defensive assistant, according to a source.

It’s a reuniting of Brock with Mike Jinks, who had been Texas Tech’s associate head coach and running backs coach until being hired at Bowling Green last month. This past season was Brock’s third with the Red Raiders.

He worked with the defensive line this season after serving as the Red Raiders’ interim inside linebackers coach during the 2014 season. He was also a defensive quality control coach for Texas Tech in 2013.

Brock oversaw the linebackers at his alma mater, Baker University, from 2011-12 and assisted with special teams returns. He was also the defensive coordinator of the program’s junior varsity.

While a graduate assistant at Baker, Brock coordinated the program’s strength and conditioning. He was a standout linebacker for Baker from 2007-10.

A well respected former Texas high school coach, Jinks won a Class 5A Division II state title in the Lone Star State in 2010 at San Antonio-area Byron P. Steele II High.

He replaces former Bowling Green coach Dino Babers, who took the same position at Syracuse. The Falcons won the MAC championship this season on the way to a 10-4 record.
