Middle Tennessee rallies to beat Texas-San Antonio 79-71

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) Giddy Potts scored 26 points in his second game back from academic suspension and Middle Tennessee rallied to beat Texas-San Antonio 79-71 on Saturday.

Darnell Harris scored 15 points, Perrin Buford added 14, and the Blue Raiders (10-5, 2-1 Conference USA) made 9 of 29 3-pointers, led by Potts with 5 of 12.

Trailing 42-34 at halftime, the Blue Raiders closed within 57-55 on Potts' 3-pointer with 11:25 to play, then led 62-60 after Potts hit his fifth 3 of the game.

Middle Tennessee pulled away 71-64 on an 8-0 run, but the Roadrunners rallied to within 72-71 on Christian Wilson's free throw.

Jacob Ivory and Reggie Upshaw combined for seven throws in the final 1:40 to seal it.

Potts missed four games and the Blue Raiders have won two straight since his return.

J.R. Harris scored 20 points, Wilson added 16, Ryan Bowie 15, and Lucas O'Brien 11 for USTA (3-14, 1-3).
