(STATS) - Tennessee State announced matchups with an FBS opponent in each of the next three seasons on Tuesday.

The Ohio Valley Conference member will make two visits to Vanderbilt, next season on Oct. 22 and then in another trip to Nashville in 2018. The Tigers last faced the SEC member in 2006, losing 38-9.

Tennessee State also will travel to Atlanta to open the 2017 season on Sept. 2 against Sun Belt member Georgia State. It will be the first meeting between the two programs.

"Vanderbilt is a good opportunity for our players to compete against an FBS opponent without having to leave the city," Tennessee State athletic director Teresa Phillips said. "Georgia State is an opportunity for us to get back to Atlanta. We played in the Atlanta Classic for so many years and we have a lot of alumni in that area. It's a good recruiting base for us student-wise, and we're excited for the opportunity to go back to Atlanta."

Tennessee State's most recent game against an FBS opponent was a 63-24 loss at Air Force in 2011.
