JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) Frank Eaves scored 31 points to lead Appalachian State to an 86-72 victory over Arkansas State on Saturday night for its first win on the road.

It was Eaves' third game this season with 30 points or more. And like last year, the Mountaineers (4-13, 2-5 Sun Belt Conference) handed Arkansas State (8-8, 4-1) its first conference loss of the season.

Eaves shot 9 for 17 from the field, including seven 3-pointers, and had seven rebounds.

Anthony Livingston scored 29 points with 15 rebounds, three blocks and two steals to lead Arkansas State.

Appalachian State led 13-0 before the Red Wolves scored with 14:17 remaining in the first half. Jacob Lawson hit back-to-back jumpers to stretch the Mountaineers' lead to 20-3. Appalachian State built a 47-30 halftime lead and led by double digits the rest of the way.
