The perils of being a top-rank program in Division I basketball were again apparent on Sunday, as No. 4 Michigan State fell to Wisconsin 77–76.

The perils of being a top-ranked program in Division I basketball were again apparent on Sunday, as No. 4 Michigan State fell to Wisconsin 77–76.
The loss is the third for the Spartans (16–3) this season and snaps a three-game losing streak for the struggling Badgers (10–9).
It looked like Michigan State would be able to do enough to pull out the win, leading for most of the last four minutes of the game. However, forward Ethan Happ came up huge for Wisconsin, hitting the go-ahead layup with 12 seconds remaining.
Michigan State’s hopes faded away as guard Denzel Valentine missed a three with two seconds left.
