Boston College assistant director of player personnel Vinny Marino is expected to be the new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Davidson coach Paul Nichols, according to a source.

This season was Marino’s second with Boston College. A sharp offensive mind, he spent his first season with the Eagles working in strength and conditioning as well as assisting with offensive quality control and special teams quality control.

Before Marino’s time in Chestnut Hill, he was Georgetown’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for two seasons. That was after he was Columbia’s offensive coordinator from 2006 through 2011, a span in which he coached five All-Ivy League quarterbacks.

Marino was wide receivers coach at his alma mater, Connecticut, from 2002–05 and was the program’s recruiting coordinator his final season. He was Rhode Island’s running backs coach from 2000–01, Richmond’s quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach in 1999, and Holy Cross’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 1998 after two seasons as the program’s running backs coach and special teams coordinator.

He was a graduate assistant at Western Carolina from 1993–95, where he worked with defensive backs for a season before moving to quarterbacks. He was an assistant at Bowdoin College in 1992, coaching wide receivers, returners and kickoff coverage.

That was after Marino got his start in coaching as an assistant at Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale, Mass., in 1991. He was a quarterback at Connecticut from 1988 through 1991.

Davidson had a 2–9 record this past season under Nichols, who has yet to have a winning season in his three years with the Wildcats.
