Cooke, Pierre lead Dayton past St. Bonaventure, 85-79

SAINT BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (AP) Charles Cooke and Dyshawn Pierre combined to score 41 points and Dayton built a 27-point lead in the first half, then cruised to an 85-79 win over St. Bonaventure Tuesday night.

After Dion Wright hit a 3-pointer at the midway point of the first half to pull the Bonnies within six, 21-15, Steve McElvene sparked a 19-0 run by the Flyers to break the game wide open and by halftime Dayton led, 45-18.

Cooke finished with 21 points and Pierre had 20, and each grabbed seven rebounds, to lead Dayton. Darrell Davis added 12 points.

Marcus Posley hit 5 of 10 from three-point range and scored 31points and Jaylen Adams added 27 to lead St. Bonaventure.

Dayton (15-3, 5-1 Atlantic 10) now leads the all-time series with the Bonnies (12-5, 4-2) with 21 wins in 30 games. The Flyers now have won six straight and 15 of the last 16 meetings.
