Georgia State beats Georgia Southern 69-66 in OT

ATLANTA (AP) Jeremy Hollowell made two free throws to force overtime, and scored six of his 11 points in the extra period to lead Georgia State to a 69-66 victory over Georgia Southern on Tuesday night.

Hollowell scored four points as part of a 10-4 spurt to give the Panthers a 65-59 lead with 1:45 left in overtime. Ike Smith and Coye Simmons scored layups, and Jake Allsmiller made three free throws to pull Georgia Southern to 67-66 with 30 seconds left. The Eagles' Devonte Boykins forced a turnover, but Aubrey McRae missed a layup attempt with 16 seconds to play.

Hollowell made a pair of free throws, and Tookie Brown missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer to seal it for the Panthers.

T.J. Shipes and Markus Crider scored 14 points apiece to lead Georgia State (12-4, 5-2 Sun Belt), which has won five of its last six games.

Smith had 23 points for Georgia Southern (6-11, 2-5).
