Morehead State bounces back, tops Tennessee Tech, 81-74

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) Xavier Moon scored 24 points and Morehead State used a strong second half to pull away from Tennessee Tech, posting an 81-74 Ohio Valley Conference victory on Thursday night.

The Eagles bounced back from an overtime loss to Eastern Illinois Saturday.

Tennessee Tech took a 38-35 lead at intermission, but Moon drilled a 3-pointer with 14:32 left to give Morehead State the lead, 47-45, and the Eagles slowly pulled away.

Opponents are shooting 42.5 percent against Morehead State and the Eagles held Tennessee Tech to just 39.6 percent (19 of 48).

The Golden Eagles (13-7, 5-2 OVC) had all but 11 points from just three players: Torrance Rowe scored 22, Aleksa Jugovic 21 and Ryan Martin 20. Martin also grabbed 13 rebounds, six off the offensive glass.

Morehead State (10-8, 4-2) got 15 from Anthony Elechi and 10 more from Malik Maitland off the bench.
