Pacific holds off Portland in 70-61 win

STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) Ray Bowles scored 19 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and Pacific held off Portland for a 70-61 win Thursday night.

Alec Kobre added 11 points and Eric Thompson had nine, hitting 7 of 10 from the foul line. Pacific (6-12, 4-4 West Coast Conference) shot 44 percent from the field and edged Portland at the glass, 33-32.

Portland (9-12, 3-5) trailed by double figures early in the second half but got a bucket from Jarrel Marshall to spark a 10-0 run that cut the gap to 41-40 with 11:40 left. The Pilots never overtook the Tigers but stayed close until Bowles sank a 3 to push the advantage to 64-59 with 1:33 to go. Pacific sealed the win with 6-for-7 shooting from the foul line.

Alec Wintering led Portland with 15 points and D'Marques Tyson added 14.
