Lipscomb repels Stetson's late rally for 92-87 win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Garrison Mathews had 19 points on Thursday night to help Lipscomb snap an eight-game losing streak, 92-87 over Stetson.

Lipscomb (5-16, 1-3 Atlantic Sun) led 49-31 at the half and still led by 18 on Matthews' 3-pointer with 8:52 left.

Stetson (7-13, 1-4) scored 10 straight to close to 78-70 and rallied all the way within 87-84 on Cameron Harvey's 3-pointer with 2 minutes to go.

But Stetson went scoreless while Lipscomb made 3 of 4 free throws, and Luke Doyle's 3 was too late when it cut the deficit to 90-87 with 3 seconds left.

Nathan Moran added 17 points for the Bisons. J.C. Hampton scored 15, while Eli Pepper and George Brammeier had 12 points each.

Derick Newton scored 19 and Brian Pegg had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Hatters. Divine Myles added 15 points, and Harvey and Doyle had 10 points each.
