Liberty upsets High Point 69-67 behind Reid, Dawson

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) A.C Reid scored 15 points, John Dawson added 11 and the winning basket at the buzzer, and Liberty upset High Point 69-67 on Saturday to end a four-game skid at home against the Panthers dating to the 2010-11 season.

High Point, who came in tied for first in the Big South, trailed eighth-place Liberty 32-27 at halftime, but rallied to a 40-36 lead until Ryan Kemrite's 3-pointer put the Flames back on top 51-50 with 7:46 to play.

John Brown gave High Point a 63-62 lead with a 3-point play, but Liberty scored on five straight possessions and led 67-65 on Dawson's layup with 44 seconds left.

Adam Weary tied it at 67 with a layup, then Dawson hit his game-winning runner.

Ezra Talbert added 14 for the Flames (7-15, 4-5), who shot 13 of 27 from long distance, led by Reid's five 3s.

Brown led High Point (13-7, 6-3) with 22.
