Thomasson leads Wright State past Valparaiso 73-62

FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) Joe Thomasson made 14 of 16 free throws, including 8 of 10 in the final minute, and scored 21 points and Wright State pulled into a first place tie by handing Valparaiso its first Horizon League loss, 73-62 on Friday night.

JT Yoho added 18 points for the Raiders (12-8, 6-1), who trailed 57-56 with 3:36 to play.

Mark Alstork put Wright State up for good with a 3-pointer with 3:10 to play. Thomasson followed with two free throws and Alstork hit a jumper. Thomasson finished the 8-0 run by hitting 1 of 2 from the line with a minute left to make it 64-57. Wright State was 21 of 29 from the line, 18 of 22 in the second half.

The Crusaders (16-4, 6-1) went scoreless for almost three minutes during Wright State's run, missing four straight shots.

Darien Walker led Valparaiso, which was 8 for 11 from the line, with 17 points and Alec Peters had 14.
