Thomas leads Texas A&M-CC to 97-76 win over New Orleans

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Rashwan Thomas scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to its eighth straight win, a 97-76 victory over New Orleans on Saturday night.

Texas A&M-CC (15-3, 6-0 Southland) has won 14 of its last 15 games.

Thomas, who was 10 of 14 from the floor, scored 14 points in the second half as the Islanders dominated the final period 54-40.

Texas A&M-CC took a 43-36 lead into the break. New Orleans started the second half on a 9-2 run to close to 47-45. The Islanders responded and were up 70-58 midway in the second half following an Ehab Amin trey.

Brandon Pye nailed 6 of 11 from long range to finish with 20 points and Amin added 18 for the Islanders, who made 13 of 23 from beyond the arc.

Erik Thomas led New Orleans (5-12, 1-5) with 16 points.
