McNeese State pulls out a 75-74 win over Northwestern State

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) James Harvey scored 21 points off the bench to help McNeese State pull off a 75-74 win over Northwestern State Saturday in a game that featured teams with a combined 1-10 record in Southland Conference play.

Northwestern State held a 42-35 lead after Devonte Hall got to the basket for a layup 90 seconds into the second half, but McNeese State answered with an 8-2 run that quickly made a 44-43 with just under 16 minutes left.

Stephen Ugochukwu converted a three-point play to spark a 7-0 run that gave the Cowboys a 68-61 advantage with 4:34 left, and added a tipped in shot off a Jamaya Burr miss with 13 seconds left for the win.

Ugochukwu finished with 19 points and Craig McFerrin grabbed 13 rebounds for the Cowboys (4-12, 2-4).

Zeek Woodley scored 25 points to lead Northwestern State (3-14, 0-7). Sabri Thompson added 12 points.
