Mizzou teammate: Video of Maty Mauk is old, QB has cleaned up his act
A video of Maty Mauk appearing to snort a white line of drugs was allegedly recorded two years ago, and the Missouri quarterback has since addressed his drug problem, one of his teammates told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The unnamed Tigers player said that Mauk has “been really turning things around” since the end of the season and “has been clean for a while.”
Mauk was suspended indefinitely from the team after the university opened an investigation into the video that surfaced on social media on Monday.
“We are currently gathering information regarding the video in question,” Mizzou said in a statement. “This is an issue we take very seriously and one that will not be tolerated within our program. We will take appropriate action once we have all the facts.”

Mauk was suspended in late September for failing a drug test, multiple sources told the Post-Dispatch, and was reinstated in October after missing four weeks. The team suspended him for the remainder of the year on Nov. 1 after he was involved in a dispute outside a bar in Columbia, Miss. He was reinstated in December by new football coach Barry Odom and welcomed back to team activities.
Mauk will be a redshirt senior in 2016. He has thrown 42 touchdowns and 19 interceptions in 32 games with the Tigers. He could compete against Drew Lock, who started in Mauk’s absence, for the starting quarterback job in 2016.
