Thomas leads Texas A&M-CC to 73-63 win over SE Louisiana

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Rashawn Thomas had 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had a career-high seven blocks to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 73-63 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night for its eighth-straight win.

Brandon Pye and Ehab Amin had 17 points apiece for Texas A&M-CC (16-3, 7-0 Southland Conference). Hameed Ali chipped in 11 points and dished out six assists and Bryce Douvier had 12 rebounds.

Douvier hit a jump shot to start the Islanders on a 26-8 run that led to a 59-38 lead with 9:12 left. Southeastern Louisiana closed to 67-58 with 2:40 remaining but the Islanders made six free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Texas A&M-CC was 23 of 52 from the floor while holding the Lions to 20-of-54 shooting. The Islanders won the rebound battle 42-29.

Marlain Veal led the Lions (3-16, 1-5) with 16 points.
