Virginia scored 18 points in the final minute and 20 seconds to complete a come-from-behind win against Wake Forest on Tuesday.

The No. 11 Cavaliers’ final three points came on a buzzer-beating jumper from Darius Thompson, who banked in a three-pointer as time expired to clinch a 72–71 victory.

Virginia used some clutch outside shooting to overcome a 10-point deficit in the second half. Four of the Cavaliers’ final five field goals were three pointers, launching them to a victory.

The Cavs were led by Malcolm Brogdon, who scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Anthony Gill added 17 points of his own.

The Demon Deacons choked away the game at the free-throw line, missing three of their last four from the charity stripe to blow an opportunity to seal the game.

Bryant Crawford and Devin Thomas scored 22 and 19  for the Demon Deacons.

The loss dropped Wake Forest to 10–10 and 1–7 in the ACC, while Virginia improved to 16–4 and 5–3 in conference play.
