Anderson, Fairleigh Dickinson beat LIU Brooklyn 88-85

NEW YORK (AP) Darian Anderson made a go-ahead basket with 17.9 seconds left and had 21 points with seven assists and Fairleigh Dickinson beat LIU Brooklyn 88-85 on Saturday to move into a three-way tie atop the Northeast Conference standings.

Anderson's fadeaway jumper on the baseline put Fairleigh Dickinson up 86-85. LIU Brooklyn's Aakim Saintil missed a driving layup with five seconds left and Tyrone O'Garro was fouled with 2.4 seconds left after grabbing the offensive rebound. O'Garro missed both free throws, but LIU Brooklyn turned it over on the inbound pass.

Ghassan Nehme hit two free throws with one second left for a three-point lead and Jerome Frink's heave at the buzzer was off the mark.

Marques Townes added 18 point for Fairleigh Dickinson (11-10, 7-3) and Nehme finished with 16.

Martin Hermannsson had 21 points and seven assists for LIU Brooklyn (10-11, 4-6). Trevin Woods added 17 points and Frink had 12 points with 10 rebounds.
