Seattle knocks off unbeaten WAC leader Grand Canyon, 59-57

PHOENIX (AP) Emmanuel Chibuogwu grabbed an offensive rebound with four seconds left and laid it in to lift Seattle to a 59-57 win over Grand Canyon Saturday night, handing the Antelopes their first loss in Western Athletic Conference play.

The loss knocks Grand Canyon (19-3, 6-1) into a tie with New Mexico State atop the WAC standings. Seattle (10-11, 4-3) climbs to third place behind CS Bakersfield.

William Powell fouled Joshua Braun in the backcourt and Braun knocked down all three free throws to pull Grand Canyon within one, 55-54. Brendan Westendorf got to the basket for a layup to push the Seattle lead back to three, but Braun hit from deep to tie the game at 57-57 with 1:38 to play.

Both teams missed opportunities to take the lead in the final minute.

Westendorf scored 14 points to lead Seattle.

Braun scored 17 points and Grandy Glaze added 16 for Grand Canyon.
