Louisiana-Lafayette beats Louisiana-Monroe 72-65 in overtime

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) Shawn Long scored a season-high 28 with 17 rebounds and Johnathan Stove had 13 points to help Louisiana-Lafayette slip past Louisiana-Monroe 72-65 in overtime Tuesday night for its seventh-straight win.

Long made a career-high 11 free throws on 16 attempts. He has 15 double-doubles this season and 67 in his career.

The Ragin' Cajuns (12-8, 8-3 Sun Belt) outscored ULM 8-1 in overtime as the Warhawks missed all five of their field-goal attempts after the end of regulation.

Louisiana-Monroe's Majok Deng hit two free throws with 21.8 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 64 and Louisiana-Lafayette's Kasey Shepherd missed a potential winning 3 as time expired.

Louisiana-Lafayette shot just 38 percent overall and made 5 of 21 from 3-point range, but outrebounded the Warhawks 52-30, grabbing as many offensive rebounds (21) as ULM did defensive boards.

Justin Roberson led Louisiana-Monroe with 21 points.
