Potts, Johnson lead Bethune-Cookman by Savannah State 62-59

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Jordan Potts scored 21 points, Ricky Johnson added 15 and the duo combined for 24 of Bethune-Cookman's 34 second-half points in a 62-59 victory over Savannah State Tuesday night.

Bethune-Cookman was held scoreless for the first five-plus minutes after halftime until Potts' basket tied it at 30-all. He scored 10 of the Wildcats' first 14 points of the second half.

Johnson scored the next eleven Bethune-Cookman points as the Wildcats took a 53-50 lead. Savannah State scored the next four points for a one-point lead, but Potts answered with a 3-pointer and Mario Moody hit two free throws for a 58-54 Bethune-Cookman lead.

Lenjo Kilo's 3-point play pulled Savannah State to 58-57, but Randy Holmes replied with two free throws. The Wildcats fouled and Troyce Manassa got Savannah State within a point again, but Moody sealed it at the line.

Moody finished with 10 points for Bethune-Cookman (8-15, 5-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).

Kilo led Savannah State (7-13, 3-6) with 23 points.
