Five-star athlete Jack Jones commits to USC on National Signing Day

Five-star athlete Jack Jones committed to USC on National Signing Day.

Five-star athlete Jack Jones committed to USC on Wednesday.

Jones is ranked 15th overall in the class of 2016 and is the country’s top-ranked athlete, according to Scout.com. He was also considering Alabama and Texas A&M. Jones, one of the country’s best prep cornerbacks, is expected to contribute as a receiver and kick returner in college. In the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Jones padded the West’s 39–7 win over the East with a fourth-quarter interception.

According to Scout, “Jones is not only one of the top receivers in the West region but could easily turn into a standout corner at the next level. He has elite-level quickness and is an explosive downfield threat. He might be the best of all receivers out West after the catch and has the ability to make two-to-three guys miss and take it to the house. He's a solid pass catcher who competes very hard and has a great work ethic off the field as well.”

Jones is the fourth five-star recruit to commit to USC this year and joins a Trojans class that is riding a late surge up the recruiting ranks. Coach Clay Helton's first recruiting class ranked 12th in the country, according to Scout.com, prior to Jones's pledge.
