UNC-Asheville defeats Charleston Southern 63-55

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) Dylan Smith scored 17 points and Dwayne Sutton had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead North Carolina-Asheville past Charleston Southern 63-55 on Wednesday night.

Smith's layup with 5:05 to play tied the game at 50. The Bulldogs' Sam Hughes followed with a layup before Charleston Southern's Javis Howard hit a layup for the final tie of the game at 52.

Smith registered another layup with 3:49 left to give UNC Asheville (16-8, 9-3 Big South) the lead for good. The Buccaneers proceeded to miss their final five shots from the field.

Sam Hughes scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Charleston Southern (8-15, 4-8) got 18 points from Armel Potter, 12 from Raemond Robinson and 11 from Howard. The Buccaneers shot 22 of 58 (38 percent) from the floor and made just 5 of 10 free throws.
