Vermont beats Maine 85-68

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Ethan O'Day had 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks on Wednesday night and Vermont beat Maine 85-68.

Darren Payen added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Catamounts (14-10, 6-3 America East Conference), who have won four of their last five.

After the eighth tie of the game at 49-all, Vermont pulled away during the middle of the second half with 14 straight points. They took advantage as the Black Bears (8-14, 4-5) went scoreless for 4:50 with four turnovers and four missed field goals during that stretch.

Ilija Stojiljkovic's layup ended the drought, but Maine never recovered and trailed by double digits the rest of the way.

Trae Bell-Haynes and Dre Wills added 11 points each for Vermont. Drew Urquhart scored 10.

Aaron Calixte had 15 points for Maine. Devine Eke added 14 and Issac Vann 12.
